Transforming Healthcare: How Precision Care and Advanced Technology are Helping Enhance Lives

Precision care focuses on improving every step of the healthcare process to help ensure hospitals and clinics can provide the highest quality care to patients. Clinicians need advanced technologies and solutions to solve the complex problems they encounter in their work. At GE HealthCare, we are committed to placing the patient at the center of everything we do.

Being bold and developing these new technologies and solutions can have a tangible impact on patients, helping make their lives healthier and happier. Advancing digital solutions across care pathways helps boost flexibility, efficiency, and remote access for clinicians – all with the aim of making precision care more accessible worldwide, supporting early and accurate diagnoses and treatments.

“Cancer doesn’t have to be sad. I know a lot of people when they hear the word cancer, they stop doing everything. Me, I’m into everything. You name it, I’m in it,” says Ella.

Ella was initially diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 14 years ago, and the cancer later spread to her liver. Recently, she completed her final round of therapy, which has shown promising results in reducing the tumor size. Ella has been married to her husband, Heladio, for ten years. They enjoy traveling to Mexico, Florida, and Texas, and run a successful home business selling acclaimed homemade tamales. In addition to her business, Ella enjoys knitting, crafting, and cooking. She is also a devoted mother of three, grandmother of ten, and great-grandmother of two.

There’s also Doug, whose battle with metastatic prostate cancer is a testament to his resilience and determination. He is currently undergoing treatment at BAMF Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where his resolve, infectious energy, and amazing molecular imaging-themed t-shirts lift the spirits of all around him.

“This is nothing short of a miracle. I can’t believe we’re seeing this in our lifetime. Theranostics is awesome… it’s a life extender,” Doug shares.

Married to his wife, MarKay, for nearly half a century, Doug’s profound love for his family shines through. His motivation is further fueled by the desire to create lasting memories with his 16-month-old grandson. Doug’s Theranostics story is one of courage, love, and the power of hope.

At 24 years old, Ashmeet faced her first PET/CT scan following a diagnosis of early-stage Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Nervous due to her claustrophobia, she steeled herself to remain calm during the 30–45-minute scan. Six months later, after six cycles of chemotherapy, she underwent her next scan, terrified of another panic episode. However, this time the scan was performed with Canada's first Omni Legend PET/CT from GE HealthCare, a groundbreaking, state-of-the-art machine. This scan not only took barely 15 to 20 minutes but also helped her clinicians see that her chemotherapy treatment was successful, leaving her overjoyed.

Beyond her personal health challenges, Ashmeet spends her time caring for children with special needs, displaying remarkable compassion and resilience in every aspect of her life.

In conclusion, precision care is revolutionizing the healthcare landscape by making treatment pathways more effective and tailored to individual needs. Through integrated technologies and innovative solutions, GE HealthCare is dedicated to putting patients at the center of care, helping ensure that clinicians are equipped to handle complex medical challenges at every stage.

The inspiring stories of Ella, Doug, and Ashmeet are on proud display in GE HealthCare’s booth at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging 2024 annual meeting, highlighting the profound impact of advanced digital solutions and cutting-edge treatments on patient lives. By enhancing flexibility, efficiency, and remote access for clinicians, precision care aims to not only support early and accurate diagnoses but also ensure that patients worldwide receive the highest quality of care.

As we continue to develop bold new technologies, we remain committed to helping improve health outcomes and enrich lives, believing that with the right care, there is always hope and potential for a healthier, happier future.
