Minority Business Enterprises (MBE)
African American/Black
A citizen having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Sub-Sahara Africa. Caribbean natives of African descent are also eligible
Asian Indian
A citizen whose origins are from the Asian Indian region. These countries include Bangladesh; India; Indonesia; Nepal; Pakistan; Sri Lanka
Asian Pacific
A citizen whose origins are from the Asian Pacific region including the following countries: Cambodia; China; Guam; Japan; Korea; Laos; Malaysia; the Philippines; Samoa; Thailand; Tibet; Taiwan; the U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific or the Northern Marianas and Vietnam
Hispanic
A U.S. citizen of true-born Hispanic heritage, from any of the Spanish-speaking areas of South America, and the Caribbean Basin only, Brazilians (Afro-Brazilian, indigenous/Indian only)
Native American
A person who is an American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut or Native Hawaiian, and a registered member of a tribe
Disabled Business Enterprise
A business which is 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a person(s) with a disability
HUBZone
A small business (according to SBA standards), owned and controlled at least 51% by U.S. citizens, or a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative or an Indian tribe, be located within a "Historically Underutilized Business Zone" and at least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+)
A business with at least 51% owned and operated by LGBTQIA+ individual
Small Business Enterprise
A small business must meet the SBA size standard, which is usually stated in number of employees or average annual receipts, represents the largest size that a business (including its subsidiaries and affiliates) may be to remain classified as a Small Business Enterprise. Check SBA.gov for current requirements
Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)
A company that is at least 51% or more owned and controlled by one or more disadvantaged persons who are socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses
Veteran Owned Business Enterprise (VOBE)
A company that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a veteran. The Department of Defense issues DD214 to veterans as proof of service
Women Owned Enterprise (WBE)
Businesses with at least 51% ownership and management by a woman
